JAMMU, Nov 30: The Government College of Education, Canal Road, Jammu organized an inter-college symposium competition on the topic “Major challenges faced by women at workplace”.
The program started with the lighting of traditional lamp by chief guest followed by a welcome address by Prof Vinay Lata. Around 8 students from different colleges of Jammu participated in the competition. Participants of the symposium expressed their concern over the various issues and highlighted the problems being faced by women at their workplaces.
Prof Anju Bala, Dr Tahira Shah and Dr Shalini Sharma were the judges of the competition. Monali of GCOE secured first position in the competition. The second position was bagged by Aditay Bhaderwaj of Govt MAM College and the third position was jointly shared by Mansi Bandral of GCOE and Preet Uppal of MIER College.
Principal of the college, Prof Aekta Gupta congratulated and encouraged the students in participating in such events which can help in bringing gender equality in the society. Dr Jyoti Parihar (Convener, CASH Committee) emphasized that organizing events related to topics like these provide time to reflect on progress made and to call for change for women in the society.
Prof Radhika Mahajan, Prof Shalini Rana, Prof Sunita Saryara, Prof Mansi, Prof Shambu Nath were also present during on the occasion. The student organizers were Anu Bagal, Mehak Khajuria, Arushi, Mehak Sardalia, Bhagya, Nisha, Ankita and Jagbir. The event ended with a vote of thanks by Prof Seema followed by National anthem.
