JAMMU, Apr 4: Under the auspices of Cyber Jagrookta, the Ministry of Home Affairs initiative to combat Cybercrime, Government College for Women Bhagwati Nagar hosted a seminar on “Cybercrime” here today.
The event’s resource person was Captain Anjana Sharma, an Associate Professor at Government Degree College Khour and the Head of the Department of Computer Sciences. Dr. Meeru Abrol, the College’s principal, gave the event’s opening speech and encouraged the students to attend these seminars in order to educate themselves about Cybercrime and its prevention.
Captain Anjana Sharma in her lecture, made the students aware about various types of Cybercrime. She deliberated in detail about the risk management and security controls while working on the internet, which is widely used by people in their day to day lives.
She also talked about social media vulnerability, smartphone risks and online transaction risks. The resource person further highlighted the fact that the stakeholders around the world should come together to make the internet a safer, better place especially for children & young people.
The resource person deliberated on the various issues and challenges that a person can face while working on the internet. The problems of Hacking, Identity Theft, Pornography, Spamming, Illegal downloading were discussed in detail during the seminar.
After the detailed presentation the students of the college raised a number of queries which were thoroughly answered by the resource person. The programme was organized by Prof. Nisha Bhagat who also raised concerns about the issues like cyber bullying, digital identity & other social networking problems which need to be dealt with by creating necessary awareness online issues and current concerns.
