GCW Gandhi Nagar awards Merit Certificates to 110 students

JAMMU, Feb 18: Department of Botany Government College for Women (GCW) Gandhi Nagar today held function in respect of awarding Merit Certificate to 110 students having participated in major events of National Environment Awareness Campaign under Biodiversity Conservation Project sponsored by WWF Chapter-J&K.
The major events conducted under said project during the Session 2013-14 included Painting Poster Competition; Slogan Writing Competition; Preparation of Biodiversity Register and Symposium.
Painting-Poster Competition was held on topics namely Clean Green College Campus; Green Communities; Global Warming; Biodiversity & Water and Biodiversity & Sustainable Development.
In this competition first position was secured by Kamayani Sharma; second position by Ruchika Sabherwal and third position by Sonia Slathia.
In Slogan Writing Competition, the first position was secured by Sheetal Priya; second position by Nidhi Shivgotra and third prize to Shakshi Sharma. The consolation prize was bagged by Anju Bala; Sipaj Jain and Chakshu Chawla.
In Symposium event the first prize is bagged by Neha Rana; second prize by Sanam Khan and third prize by Ashvinder Kour.
Other participants who received merit certificate included Palvi Sharma, Anu Sharma, Diksha Kumari, Sangeet and Meenakshi Kesar.
