JAMMU, Aug 16: Sanskrit Department of Govt College for Women, Gandhi Nagar celebrated Sanskrit Week, here.
Dr Kiran Bakshi, Principal of the College was the chief guest on the occasion.
A healthy practice of celebration of Sanskrit Week was pioneered by Dr Kiran Bakshi to promote this dwindling language in the society.
Dr Padmini Tickoo presented welcome address.
Students of B A Semester I, II year and III year attended it and presented papers on diverse topics ranging from ‘Need of Sanskrit in the present time’, ‘Kalidass as Versatile dramatist’ and ‘Sanskrit-a language of Indian Culture”.
Dr Bakshi urged the students to use this language not only a subject but as a language of communication also as it a store house of wisdom and binds one with ancient India, its traditions and values.
The Programme was coordinated by Dr Padmini Tickoo and the vote of thanks was presented by Dr Sudhanshu Sharma.
