JAMMU, Sept 23: Government College for Women (GCW), Gandhi Nagar emerged overall winner during Mime, Mimicry and Mono Acting events organized on the seventh day of the “Display Your Talent” by Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu at Brigadier Rajinder Singh Auditorium here today.
Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, secured first prize, whereas Government College for Women, Parade and PG Integrated, University of Jammu, were adjudged as second and third, respectively in the Mime Competition. The Certificate of Merit in Mime competition was awarded to the team from Trikuta College of Computer Science and Management Studies.
The actions speak louder than the words, this was depicted by the young participants in their Mime presentations on various themes such as “Marriage Scene”, “Politics” “Gender Bias” and “Water Conversation”.
In Mimicry Competition, Narender from Department of History, University of Jammu, clinched the first prize whereas Pallavi Kunwer from Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar and Kanav Chopra from Government MAM College secured second and third prizes respectively. The Certificate of Merit was awarded to Richa Sharma from Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar.
In Mono-Acting Competition, Radhika Rasyal from Department of History, University of Jammu bagged first prize whereas Damini Baloria from Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar and Jagpreet Kour from The Law School, University of Jammu cinched second and third prizes respectively. Namrata Chib from Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, was awarded with Certificate of Merit.
During the Mime, Mimicry and Mono Acting competition today, Digvijay Singh, Vijay Atri and Anil Tickoo were the adjudicators.
Dr Hema Gandotra, Dr Lalit Sen Sharma and Dr Kavita Suri, were teachers incharge for Mime, Mimicry and Mono Acting events and also conducted the events effectively.
The events were compeered by Aenny Mattoo, Joint Secretary Students Cultural Council and Maida Rasool whereas Rakesh Kumar and Yash Pal acted as the time-keeper.
Prof Pankaj Srivastava, Dean Students Welfare and Prof Parmeshwari Sharma, Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee, distributed the certificates amongst the participants.
Among others present were Dr Sanjay Sharma, Dr Sanjay Gupta, Dr Abdul Rashid Manhas, Assistant Dean (SW), Dr Yudhbir Singh, Assistant Dean (SW), Ifra Kak, Cultural Officer, Sumeet Sharma, Drama Instructor, Teachers Incharge, Scholars, Rahul Sharma, Secretary, Students Cultural Council, Bharti Devi, Joint Secretary, SCC, Sangeeta, Jatinder Singh, Kaveri, members of Students Cultural Council and Students were present.
The events to be held tomorrow are Western Vocal Solo and Western Group Song.
