JAMMU, Feb 5: Department of Urdu, Government College for Women (GCW), Gandhi Nagar, Jammu organized an Extension Lecture on the topic ‘Origin and Development of Urdu Alphabets as an activity of Language Club’, here today.
Dr T R Raina, a distinguish scholar and a life member of NCPUL and NCERT was the Resource Person, while Dr Kiran Bakshi, Principal of the College was the chief guest on the ocasion.
Earlier, Dr Daljeet Verma presented welcome address.
Resource Person, Dr Raina focused upon language promotion, origin and development of Urdu alphabets.
In his lecture he underlined the need of promotion of this language to understand the real sentiments of the common people.
In another activity of Science Club, Department of Mathematics also organized a One Day Seminar on Mathematics.
12 students expressed their views about the importance of Mathematics and traced the history of the development, relevance and contribution of mathematician in the hi-tech society. Dr Kiran Bakshi in her address encouraged the students that activities like extension lecture and seminars brings out the inherent talent of the students and make them focused in their approach.
All the faculty members of the Science Club and Language Club were present and it was attended by all the students of the College.
