GCW Gandhi Nagar organizes workshop

JAMMU, Feb 19: The Career Counseling Cell of Govt College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu in collaboration with Radiant Institute of Career Development organized a workshop today with special focus on Civil Services Examinations.
Dr Kiran Bakshi, Principal of the College was the chief guest on the occasion whereas Sheikh Mushtaq, former Commissioner/ Secretary, Higher Education Department, J&K Government was the guest of honour. Shamim Anwar was Technical Expert for the workshop.
The programme began with presentation of saplings to the guests followed by lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries.
Dr. Anjali Bhat, Convenor Career Counselling Cell in her welcome note pointed out that for women to be empowered there is no better way than to join civil services and be part of the decision making.
Dr. Kiran Bakshi, Principal of the College in her key note address threw light upon the empowerment of women by providing them with opportunities for economic independence and building their managerial skills by encouraging women to participate in more competitive fields like the civil services.
Sheikh Mushtaq delivered a very engaging motivational talk aided by power-point presentation with regard to career opportunities in general and civil services in particular.
Thereafter Shamim Anwar engaged the students in a very healthy interactive session wherein he highlighted the importance of strong lateral thinking while attempting the civil services examinations.
The programme ended with presentation of vote of thanks by Dr Anupama Gupta, Co-Convenor Career Counselling Cell.
