GCW Gandhi Nagar wins 1st place in group song competition

JAMMU, Sept 24: Government College for Women Gandhi Nagar bagged first place in the Group Song Indian competition organized by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu as part of the ongoing ‘Display Your Talent 2012-13’, here today.
The song that fetched them first place was ‘Hum Apne Sadkarmon Se, Mile-Jule Sab Dharmon Se, Teri Utaaren Aarti, Jai Janani, Jai Bharti’,
The teams from Government College for Women, Parade and Government Degree College  for Boys, Udhampur, were adjudged second and third respectively.
The Certificates of Merits were awarded to MBS College of Engineering and Technology and Government  MAM College, Jammu.
Prof Jasbir Singh, Chairman, Campus Cultural Committee, was the chief guest on the occasion.
Speaking on this occasion, Prof Singh, eulogized the presentations of the young participants and informed that prize winners of the Display your Talent would be deputed for participation in the forthcoming Inter-University Youth Festival.
Each team presented two group songs, one Patriotic and one folk.
The jam-packed Brig Rajinder Singh Auditorium echoed with the ‘Aalap’, ‘Aakar’ and ‘Sargam’, beautifully rendered songs full of patriotism as well as Dogri, Punjabi, Haryanvi and folk songs of Uttar Pradesh, having essence of rich cultural heritage.
The other participating teams included Govt Degree College, Samba, Govt. Degree College, Kathua, The Law School, University of Jammu, Model Institute of Engineering and Technology, Jammu and  Govt Girdhari Lal Dogra Memorial Degree College, Hiranagar
Praduman Singh, Nand Kishore Pal and Sham Sajan, were the experts for this event.
Dr Shallu Sehgal, was the Teacher Incharge who read the Rules and Regulations for the event.
The programme was compered by Vaibhav Sharma.
Among others Prof NK Tripathi, Dean Students Welfare, University of Jammu, Dr Anupama Vohra, Vijay Atri, Nidhi Kaila, Anshu Bala, Teachers Incharge and students from the various PG Departments of the University and affiliated Colleges, were present.
