KATHUA, Mar 23: One-day National Seminar on the topic “Asre Hazir Mein Krishan Chander Ki Afsana Nigari Ki Ahmiyat-O-Afadiyat” was organized today by Department of Urdu, Government College for Women (GCW), Kathua.
The seminar was organized in collaboration with National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language, Ministry of Higher Education, New Delhi.
Dr Mushtaq Qadari from Department of Urdu, University of Delhi was the chief guest while Dr Kulvinder Kour was the special guest on the occasion. Principals of different colleges of Kathua district and faculty of different colleges of Srinagar, Poonch, Rajouri, Jammu, Udhampur and Kathua from Urdu Subject were also present in the Seminar.
More than 20 papers of faculty/scholars were presented in the presence of Chairperson Prof Asadulla Wani and Aseer Kishtwari, renowned Urdu writer of the State. The research papers presented in the Seminar covered the life and literary works of renowned Urdu short story writer, Krishan Chand.
Dr AR Manhas presented key note address and laid stress on the young scholars to read the literary contribution of Krishan Chander.
During the literary session, papers were presented by Dr Mehru-din Zoor Kashmiri from Kashmir, Dr Latief Mir from Mendhar, Dr Azam, Dr Javed, Dr Mushtaq Wani, Dr Shamsher Singh, Dr Muqeem and many others.
Earlier, Prof Assa Ram Sharma, Principal and patron of the Seminar, presented welcome address. Dr Yash Paul Sharma, HoD Urdu and organizing secretary of the Seminar conducted the proceedings. The Seminar concluded with vote of thanks presented by Dr Gotam Singh, staff secretary.
