JAMMU, Nov 11: Government College for Women, Parade held a meeting of the Star College External Advisory Committee.
Dr Sandhya R Shenoy, Scientist ‘D’, DBT, Government of India, New Delhi was the representative of the funding agency. Prof AJS Bhanwer, Dean, Life Science, GNDU, Amritsar and Prof JP Yadav, Department of Genetics, MD University, Rohtak, Haryana were the expert advisors.
The committee took a round of all the Science Departments falling under the Star College Scheme and inspected the newly purchased equipment. They also enquired the students and faculty about the usage of the different equipment, apparatus and consumable items.
In presence of the External Experts, Advisory Committee, Chairperson, Dr Hemla Aggarwal, Principal of the College, Dr Pragya Khanna, Coordinator and Dr Neeraj Kumar, Finance officer, the heads of different Science Departments made presentations about the respective profiles of their departments.Science models workable and non workable were exhibited on the occasion by the students to show their output to the team members and the other students of the college.
The committee advised the authorities to seek additional funding under the scheme. The committee also gave certain recommendations like lab manuals to be developed by the faculty along with SOP’s, FIP to be initiated for all the departments, outreach programmes to be organized for school students and hands on training programme for the groups of students.
