JAMMU, Oct 30: GD Goenka Public School Jammu hosted the mega event Literary Fest with great fervour.
Renowned CBSE schools namely KC International, DPS Kathua, SOS Herman Gmeiner, Spring Dales, MHAC Nagbani, Presentation Convent, JP World, Heritage, Doon International, Rich Harvest, APS Akhnoor, Jammu Sanskriti Jammu, KC Public School, APS Ratnuchak, Sainik School Nagrota and GD Goenka Public School Jammu participated in it.
The Literary Fest format included 8 literary genres, namely Turn Coat Debate for Classes XI and XII, Theatrical Pot Pourri for Classes IX and X, Play Hamlet for Class VIII, Picture Perfect for Class VII, Lingua Franca Teasers (Vocabulary Quiz) for Class VI, Spin A Yarn for Class V, Spell Bee for Class IV and Show and Tell for Class III.
The Head Boy Vasu Gupta and the Head Girl Nausheen Thusoo welcomed the guests and apprised them of the various events of the Literary Fest.
Rajesh Rathore Principal, G D Goenka Public School Jammu in his welcome speech encouraged the participants and laid emphasis on the importance of such literary activities as they provide ample opportunities to students to enhance and sharpen their linguistic acumen.
The programme commenced with the lighting of the traditional lamp. Thereafter the audience was enthralled with a musical bonanza comprising of Gayatri Mantra chanting, followed by Ganesh Vandana and School welcome song.
The chief guest of the event Jagadish Singh Dhami, President, Jammu Sahodaya and Principal, Heritage School Jammu enriched the audience with his pearls of wisdom. He invoked them to explore the hidden frontiers of their persona and to design a rational roadmap to reach their dream destination.
Nirmal Mahna, General Secretary, Jammu Sahodaya and Principal, Delhi Public School, Kathua graced the occasion as the guest of honour.
The Literary Fest witnessed a fair judgment in all the categories. The escorting teachers from all the 18 schools, barring GD Goenka (the host school) were entrusted with the responsibility of judging all the literary activities.
GD Goenka Public School Jammu was declared the overall champion with 42 points, yet being the host school, it withdrew its claim on the Champion’s Trophy and handed it over to the first runner up Presentation Convent Senior Secondary School, Jammu, which scored 15 points.
