GDA organizes cricket match for visually impaired

SRINAGAR, July 23: The Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA), in collaboration with the Traders Federation Tangmarg and the Hoteliers Union Tangmarg, organized a cricket match for the visually impaired in Tangmarg today.
A GDA spokesperson said the event was part of their ongoing social initiatives aimed at promoting inclusivity and empowering differently-abled individuals. He said the visually impaired participants, including local residents, were accompanied by noted environmental activist and philanthropist Raja Muzaffar.
The spokesperson said that the cricket match provided an opportunity for the visually impaired to showcase their talents and engage in a meaningful sporting activity.
He said the event was also graced by the presence of Farooq Ahmed Peer, a retired officer and renowned columnist, who served as the chief guest.
Waseem Raja, Chief Executive Officer of GDA, expressed his gratitude to the traders, civil society members, officers, and all other individuals who contributed to the success of the event. He emphasized the importance of such initiatives in fostering a sense of community and support for the specially-abled.
Farooq Ahmed Peer, while expressing his happiness at the successful organization of the event, advised the organizers to continue holding similar events for specially-abled individuals.
