BIJBEHARA, Mar 28: With a view to inculcate a sense of team spirit among the student community and the teaching faculty as well, Government Degree College, Bijbehara today organized a sports meet in college grounds, here today.
As many as ten teams of different departments under the supervision of concerned Head of the Department (HOD) participated in the event for displaying their talent and strength in various sports and other co-curricular activities.
The event was inaugurated by the principal of the College Prof. Nazir Ahmad Chirag, while as the event was managed and monitored by Mr.Mohammad Abdullah Dar, Physical Training Instructor of the College.
Dr Firdous Ahmad Itoo conducted the proceedings of the event which concluded with tag of war between students and the teaching staff of the college. The students emerged as the winners of the war.
Speaking on the occasion, the principal of the college said that the institution is following a calendar of sports and other co-curricular activities to provide the students a platform for exhibiting their varied potentials in such events. These events, he said also imbibe a sense of togetherness and competitiveness among the students.
The daylong long event was witnessed by a large number of students and staff of the College, who lauded the participants for displaying their talent and potential in an over enthusiastic way.
