GDC Kathua organises Annual Day

KATHUA, Feb 23: Government Degree College (GDC), Kathua organized Annual Day Cum Prize Distribution function in its College premises, here today.
Mohd Akbar Lone, Minister for Higher Education was the chief guest on the occasion, while Minister of State, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma was the guest of honour and MLA  Charanjeet Singh presided over the function.
Principal of the College, Dr Nater Singh presented welcome address and report of the College.
He gave a detail of the achievements of the College students in the field of academics, sports, NCC, NSS and other cultural activities. He also mentioned about  ‘A’ Grade status attained by the college.
Lone in his address assured the College Administration that very soon a new auditorium will be sanctioned to the College after proper survey of the location in the college. He also gave directions for the introduction of one PG Department and Music at undergraduate level and inspected the various Departments of the College.
Dr Manohar Lal Sharma, alumni of the College assured that he will provide one bore well hand-pump for the College Hostel.
MLA Kathua who presided over the function lauded the efforts of the College Administration for taking it to new heights.
College Newsletter ‘Ravi’was released by the chief on the occasion.
Students of the College enthralled the audience with a colourful cultural programme.
Later-on, chief guest and other dignitaries gave away prizes to the students for their achievements in the field of Academics, Sports, NCC, NSS and other activities.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Director Colleges, Prof Nalini Kohli, District Development commissioner, Kathua, Zahida Khan, SSP Atul Kumar Goel, SSP Kathua, Ex MLA  Dhian Chand, Dr NK. Gupta Principal GDC Bani, retired Professors and other dignitaries.
Senior Professors of the College Prof Gopal Sharma, Dr Janak Singh, Dr TR Sharma, Prof P K Rao, Dr Avinash K Gupta, Dr Sangeeta , Dr Anita Kiran, Prof Sumanesh, Prof Jasvinder Singh, Dr Ram Singh, Prof Sandeep Chaudhary, Dr Arun Dev Singh , Dr Balbinder Singh and Prof Anoop Sharma were also present on the occasion.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Prof Neelam Thappa and Prof Samriti Singh.
Finally, Dr Sujata Slathia presented vote of thanks.
