JAMMU, Dec 6: NSS Unit of Government Degree College (GDC) Khour and Red Ribbon Club Volunteers organized HIV/AIDS Awareness Programme among the youth in the College premises, here today.
30 students drawn from 13 Higher Secondary Schools of Sub Division Khour participated in the Symposium and Slogan Writing Competition.
The function was presided over by Prof (Dr) P K Sharma, Principal GDC Khour, who while speaking on the occasion, urged upon the volunteers and the participants to sensitize the youth and the society about the consequences of HIV/AIDS and make allout efforts to curb its spread.
Rakesh Bhagat SDM Khour was the chief guest on the occasion who delivered at length on AIDS and its continuing dangers to the society.
Priya Sharma of GDC  Khour won the first place, while Samartha Verma of Govt HSS Khour and Raveena Rani of GDC Khour bagged second and third spot respectively in the Symposium.
In the Slogan Writing competition, Usha Bhau of GDC Khour, Khushboo of Govt HSS Kotmaira and Pallavi claimed first, second and third place respectively.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Pooja Devi, Lecturer Education. Ashwani Bali, Physical Director; Jagdev Singh, ZEO Jourian; Champa Sharma, CDPO Khour and Shublata Sharma were the jury members.
The vote of thanks was presented by Dr K R Sharma, NSS Programme Officer and Nodal Officer of Red Ribbon Club of GDC Khour.
