GDC Marh organises Symposium competition on Corporal Punishment

JAMMU, Nov 23: IQAC of Government Degree College Marh organized an inter semester symposium competition on corporal punishment and its ill effects under the theme “My Constitution My Pride”.
The symposium was organized under the guidance of Principal of the College, Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Kumar Koul exemplifying the institution’s steadfast dedication in ensuring the comprehensive well-being of its students.
The Principal emphasized that corporal punishment increases the student’s behavioural problems over the period of time and has no positive outcomes. He emphasized that there should be a sacred positive relationship between student and teacher. The student should maintain discipline within and beyond the institution and faculty should have the capability and desire of understanding the psychology of students to resolve the issues confronted by students.
Prof Imitaz Shahid (HoD Zoology) conducted the proceedings of the programme. In all 20 students participated in the intra college symposium competition. Students articulated compelling arguments, illuminating the adverse effects of corporal punishment while acknowledging the necessity for firmness in certain situations.
Vivek Sharma and Sanjana Bhagat of 5th semester bagged first and second position while third position was shared by Eshan Saini and Abhishek Bhagat of 3rd semester while consolation prizes were given to Manish Kumar and Harshul Gupta of 3rd semester. Sushain Kumar and Abhay Singh Jamwal helped in event management.
