JAMMU, Feb 25: The Department of Physics, Govt Degree College (GDC) Mendhar organized quiz, seminar and extension lecture, which was graced by Prof S D Sharma, Ex- Principal as the chief guest and Prof Musarraf Hussain Shah as the guest of honour.
The function was divided into three sessions. 30 students of the College participated in the events.
In the first session, the students were divided into four groups, namely JJ Thomson, Abdus Salam, JC Bose and S N Bose.
The contest comprised of eight rounds and the score was calculated on the spot. The participants from the J J Thomson, J C Bose and Ab Salam groups claimed the first, second and third prizes respectively.
In the second session, seminar was organized in which six students from the college presented their papers with the power-point presentation.
In the third session, Prof S D Sharma, Ex- Principal and renowned teacher of Physics delivered an extension lecture on recent advancements in Physics.
After the lecture in an interactive session, he answered the queries raised by the students. He encouraged the students and appreciated the efforts of the faculty of the Physics Department.
Prof Musarraf Hussain Shah, HoD Chemistry Govt Degree College Poonch also spoke on the occasion.
The programme started with the welcome address presented by Zafar Iqbal Khan, HoD Physics.
The quiz was conducted by Ab Aziz, Lecturer of Physics Department with the help of Power-point.
The programme was supported by Kalbe Murtaza and Dr Firdous Nazir. Qasim Mir, HoD Geography acted as scorer. Prof Shokit Hussain, Prof Sarshad Hussain and Dr Maroof Khan were the adjudicators.
The prizes were also distributed among all the winners and other participants.
Prof Shabir Hussain Shah, Principal of the College in his presidential address impressed upon the students to adopt practical approaches to study the Science Subjects.
Prof Mohd Akram, Head of the Education Department presented vote of thanks.
