GDC organises workshop on Nano Technology

UDHAMPUR, Feb 6: Department of Electronics and Physics of Government Degree College (Boys) in collaboration with Department of Science and Technology organized one-day Workshop cum Awareness Camp on “Nanoera: Future Prospects of Nano-Technology” in Conference Hall.
Prof PN Kotru, from Department of Physics and Electronics, University of Jammu, was key resource person, who while speaking said that there is a dire need to start material engineering so that the materials suitable to the devices may be produced for enhanced productivity.
Prof Ajit Khosla from Department of Engineering Science, Simon Fraser University Canada made his presentation on topic “Micro- patternable Multifunctional Nano Composite Polymers for flexible soft MEMS applications”. He offered a collaborative research programme (INDO- CANADIAN) in Nanotechnology and establishment of a Nanofabrication lab in the college.
Dr Kamni Pathania from Department of Physics, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University talked on topic “Nanotechnology in Medicine and Healthcare”.
Dr Ravinder Tickoo, Head, Department of Electronics, GGM Science College Jammu chaired the first technical session whereas the second technical session was chaired by Dr SK Magotra, Head, Department of Chemistry of the host College. Six posters were presented by various participants including Amit Trikha from GCW, Parade, Ekta Nanda, Scholar, JU, Seema Sharma, Scholar, JU, Monika Slathia, Department of Sericulture and Rahul Sharma, Department of Computer Sciences of GDC Udhampur.
Amit Trikha was adjudged as the best poster presenter.
Dr SK Magotra, Head Department of Chemistry of the host College, Dr Ravinder Tickoo and Dr Udhey Bhanu, Convener, Star College Scheme, GDC Udhampur were the jury members.
Earlier Principal Dr Nutan Kumar Resutra presented the welcome address, whereas Prof Vishal Sharma, Convener introduced the theme and objectives of the workshop.
At the end, Prof Sudhir Singh, Convener Internal Quality Assurance Cell presented formal vote of thanks.
