JAMMU, Aug 26: As a part of “Sadbhavana Week” celebrations, Government Degree College (GDC), Bishnah organized a symposium on “Solar Energy-an alternative source of energy”.
A total of seven students participated in the event and spoke on various aspects of solar energy-its advantages, disadvantages and its importance in today’s world when fossil fuels are fast depleting.
Prof Kalpana Kesar, Principal of the college was the chief guest on the occasion, who while speaking highlighted the role of youth in maintaining peace and communal harmony.
Pooja, Monika and Preeti were adjudged as first, second and third respectively, while Nidhu Kaith secured consolation prize.
The judges, who adjudged the performance of the participants, were Prof Hardeep Kour, Prof Sunita Gupta and Dr Suman Charak.
Bandhu Sharma presented vote of thanks, while the proceedings of the programme were conducted by Prof Preeti Dogra.
The symposium was held under the supervision of Dr Savtanter Kour, NSS Programme Officer and Prof Sunita Gupta, convener.
