POONCH, Oct 9: The Literary Committee of SKC Government Degree College (GDC) Poonch hosted a successful debate competition on the vital topic “Menace of Drugs Among Females” held at the Geography Theatre Hall, the event attracted 13 students from various semesters, allowing them to demonstrate their oratory talents under the guidance of Principal Dr. Jasbir Singh.
Naima Rather, a first-semester BA student, claimed the top spot with her compelling speech, while Assiya Shabir and Mohd Rizwan, both from the third semester, secured the second and third positions, respectively.
The judging panel included Dr. Wajahat Hussain Jafri (HOD of English), Dr. Mussrat Jabneen (HOD of Arabic), and Dr. Ajaz Ahmed (HOD of Persian). Dr. Wajahat praised all participants and provided motivational advice on achieving success, encouraging students to excel academically and personally.
Following the debate, Prof. Assadullah Khan (HOD of Chemistry) and Prof. Ghulam Abbas (HOD of Botany) shared their insights, further inspiring the attendees.
Dr. Jasbir Singh highlighted the importance of avoiding drugs and provided practical strategies for maintaining a healthy lifestyle, especially for young women. His impactful message emphasized the need for awareness and prevention in combating drug-related issues.
The event was well-received, thanks to the efforts of the organizing team, including Dr. Amjed Ali Babar, the Convenor of the College Literary Committee, along with other faculty and staff members. The active participation from both students and faculty made this session not only memorable but also a significant contribution to addressing a pressing societal concern.
