JAMMU, Aug 14: Government Degree College (GDC), Ramgarh organized an Intra-College slogan writing competition on the eve of International Youth Day on ‘Drug De-Addiction’ here today.
The competition was organized under the supervision and coordination of Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra, Principal of the College. During the occasion, she informed that the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare operated a Drug De-Addiction Programme (DDAP) by providing financial grants for augmenting post abuse treatment facilities.
The Ministry also uses print, electronic and social media for creating awareness. Information regarding ill-effects of alcoholism and drug abuse is also disseminated in regional languages. She emphasized that the students must be counseled properly at various levels so that they remain away from the drug menace and threw light upon the dire consequences of drug addiction and emphasized the need for immediate action to combat this prevailing menace.
Prof. Risha Kumari and Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Nodal officers RRC of College, briefed the participants about the proceedings of the competition and motivated students to refrain from substance abuse.
In slogan writing competition, the first position was bagged by Sarbjeet Singh, Shavi secured the second position and the third position to Vimal Singh. The judges of the competition were Prof. Seema Sharma, Dr. Shamsher Lal and Prof. Risha Kumari.
