Inter Collegiate Championships

JAMMU, Nov 6: Inter Collegiate Boxing and Volleyball Championships, being organized by Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu concluded here today.
In Wrestling, Light Fly (Men), Naresh Kumar of GDC Samba and Vinod Pal of GDC Kunjwani clinched Gold and Silver medals respectively, whereas in Fly Weight, Gourav Kumar of GDC Kunjwani and Shubam Sharma of GDC Udhampur bagged Gold and Silver medals respectively and in Bantam Weight, Ajay Singh of PG Department and Prithvi Raj Singh of GDC Mishriwalla secured Gold and Silver medals respectively.
In Light Weight, Vishal Sharma of PG Department and Mohammad Yassen of GDC Rajouri clinched Gold and Silver medals respectively, whereas Light Welter Weight, Hiteshwar Singh of GDC Kathua and Mandeep Singh of GDC Samba bagged Gold and Silver medals respectively.
In Welter Weight, Jameel Ahmed of PG Department and Sourav Samrat of GDC Kunjwani clinched Gold and Silver medals respectively, whereas in Middle Weight, Brigu Gupta of MIET and Syed Anwar of GDC Kunjwani clinched Gold and Silver medals respectively.
In Lt Heavy Weight, Bharat Jalotra of GDC Akhnoor and Yasir Hanief of GDC Rajouri bagged Gold and Silver medals respectively and in Heavy Weight, Bunty Chouhan of GDC Samba and Sajan Sharma of GDC Mishriwala bagged Gold and Silver medals respectively and in Super Heavy Weight, Mukul Jamwal of GDC Samba and Akbir Singh and Trikuta College bagged Gold and Silver medals respectively.
In Light Fly, Nidhi of GDC Mishriwala and Samiksha Kaphi of PG Department bagged Gold and Silver medals respectively, in Bantam Weight, Rigzen Tsewang of PG Department and Madhu Devi of GDC Jindrah clinched Gold and Silver medals respectively, in Feather Weight, Nidhi Surmal of PG Department and Ramsha of GDC Jindrah clinched Gold and Silver medals respectively, in Light Weight, Sita Devi of GDC Mishriwala and Avneet Kour of PG Department bagged Gold and Silver medals respectively, in Lt Welter Weight, Shiwali of GDC Jindrah and Pallavi Rajput of GDC Mishriwala bagged Gold and Silver medals respectively, in Welter Weight, Nisha Devi of GDC Jindrah and Akanksha of PG Department bagged Gold and Silver medals respectively and in Super Heavy Weight, Sonali of GDC, Bishnah and Pooja Devi of GDC Jindrah bagged Gold and Silver medals respectively.
Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu was the chief guest on the valedictory function, who distributed the medals and trophies among the winner and runner-up players.
The overall Inter Collegiate Boxing Championship in Men goes to GDC Samba and the runner up trophy goes to PG Department, whereas overall Inter Collegiate Boxing Championship in Women goes to GDC Jindrah and the runner up trophy goes to PG Department.
The officials who were present during the Boxing Championship are Sajjad Ahmed Pathan, Aman Sangral Gautam Sharma, Hardesh Singh, Harinder Pal Singh and Jai Bharat.
Among others present were Raj Kumar Sharma, Gagan Kumar, Ravish Vaid, Sanjay Verma and Sanjeev Sharma.
Meanwhile, GCW Parade outplayed the defending champion the combined side of PG Departments by 3-0 sets and lifted the Inter-Collegiate Volleyball Championship Trophy in Women category.
In the final match, GCW Parade defeated PG Departments by 3-0 sets with set score 25-14, 25-9 and 25-11.
Champa Devi and Sofia Chowdhary of GCW Parade were the star performers during the final match.
The match was officiated by a technical panel of VFI Qualified Referees including Amit Sharma, Madhuri Jamwal, Mulkh Raj, Manik Nargotra, Vikas Karlopia and Shubham Sharma.
The Inter Collegiate Boxing and Volleyball Championships were organized under the supervision of Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
