Inter Collegiate Tournaments at JU
*4 teams sail into next stage in Cricket

JAMMU, Sept 20: Inter Collegiate Tournaments in various disciplines is being organized by Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu in the varsity campus here today.
GDC Udhampur and ASCOMS emerged winners in the Inter Collegiate Badminton Tournament for men and women at Gymnasium Hall, University of Jammu, here.
Prof Meena Sharma, Chief Coordinator Campuses and Rector Kathua Campus was the chief guest on the occasion. Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu was also present on the occasion. Prof Sharma distributed trophies among the winner teams.
Among others present were Sanjeev Jamwal, Harvinder Pal Singh, Vikram Jamwal, Rakesh Sharma, Ashwani Kumar, Dr Swarn Singh, Vikram Saini and Gourav Sharma.
In the men final, GDC Udhampur beat GCET Jammu by 3-1, whereas in women final, ASCOMS defeated PG Department by 2-0.
The matches were officiated by Vikram Saini, Ravish Vaid, Sanjeev Sharma, Tarvinder Pal Singh, Jevan, Rohit Kumar, Shivam Gupta, Gaurav Jamwal, Gourav Rana and Sabal Ahmed.
Meanwhile, the combined side of PG Department claimed men and women titles in the Inter Collegiate Handball Tournament at JU’s Handball Court.
In both the final matches, PG Department beats GDC Kathua by a huge margin of 12-3 goals in men section while PG Department outplayed GCW Udhampur by 10-1 goals in women section.
Prof Vinod Sharma, Head, Department of Computer Sciences, University of Jammu was the chief guest, who awarded the trophies and medals to the winners and runner up team in the presence of Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
The matches were officiated by Sudesh Kumar, Gourav Sharma, Vinay Sharma, Karun Magotra, Priya Devi and Vipen Photra.
However, PG Department and GDC Kathua lifted the women and men titles respectively in the Inter Collegiate Kho-Kho Tournament at JU’s sports ground.
PG Department defeated GCW Parade in women section by 9-5 points, whereas in men section, GDC Kathua registered win over GDC Samba by 10-4 points.
Prof Vinod Sharma, Head, Department of Computer Science and IT, University of Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion whereas Tasir Balwan, Assistant Commissioner (General), Jammu and Jasmeet Singh, Assistant Commissioner, Jammu were the guests of honour.
Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, Director Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu presided over the function.
The matches were officiated by Ajay Gupta, Anil Sharma, Dhiraj Sharma, Raman Kalaria, Jagdev Singh, Palbinder Singh, Anil Kumar, Shibali Bhau, Surbhi Antal, Pooja Sharma, Mohammad Israr and Gagan Kumar.
Among others present were Dr Ambika, Dr Noor, Sanjeev Jamwal, Ashok Kumar, Suman Lata, Ravish Vaid, Vikas Karlopia, Raj Kumar Bakshi, Jai Bharat, PD Singh, Harinder Pal Singh, Sanjay Verma and Sanjeev Sharma.
In Inter-Collegiate Cricket Tournament, GDC Reasi defeated Government Detail College by 118 runs, GDC Kathua registered win over IDS Sehora by 10 wickets, The Law School JU defeated PG Law and Sc JU by 38 runs and GDC Billawar trounced GDC Mendhar by 3 wickets.
