* SPMR, GGM, ASCOMS, MAM register wins in Football

JAMMU, Sept 6: Players continued to vie for top honours in the ongoing Inter-Collegiate Championships, being organized by Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu at Gymnasium Hall and ground Number 1 of the Varsity, here today.
In Inter-Collegiate Fencing Championship for men, Government Degree College of Udhampur emerged overall winner.
In Epee event, Chahat Singh of GDC Udhampur and Mohammad Muzamil of GDC Paloura bagged gold and silver medals respectively, while Shubham Sharma of SPMR College of Commerce and Abhinav Pandotra of PG Department of JU shared bronze medals.
In Foil event, Chahat Singh of GDC Udhampur and Shubham Sharma of SPMR College of Commerce secured gold and silver medals, while the bronze medal was shared by Abhinav Pandotra of PG Department of JU and Karan Singh of GDC Udhampur.
In Sabre event, Parvinder Singh of GDC Paloura and Adhirath Kesar of MIET clinched gold and silver medals, while the bronze medal was shared by Aatish of GDC Udhampur and Umang Sharma of GGM Science College.
The matches were officiated by Shotu Lal Sharma, Rachna Jamwal, Rashid Ahmed Choudhary, Ujjwal Gupta, Ajay Khatrol and PD Singh.
Meanwhile, in Inter-Collegiate Football Tournament for men, SPMR College of Commerce registered win over GCET by 8-0 in the first match of the day. The goal scorers were Pankay, Bhanu, Lovish and Raza.
In the second match, GGM Science College lost to GDC Paloura by 2-1 in tie-breaker. From GDC Paloura side, Anmol and Amit scored the goals, while Ranvijay from GGM Science College netted the goal.
In the third match, ASCOMS defeated GDC Samba by 2-1. From ASCOMS side, the goal scorers were Shahid Shabir and Wamiq, whileas from GDC Samba side, Abhishek Choudhary was the lone goal scorer.
In the fourth match, GDC Hiranagar lost to MAM College by straight two goals to zero. The goal scorers were Rahul Sharma and Aqeel Malik.
The Championships is being held under the chairmanship of Prof Avtar Singh Jasrotia, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
