UDHAMPUR, Mar 15: Government Degree College (GDC) Udhampur emerged runner-up in 46th Inter-College Athletic meet organized by Directorate of Sports and Physical Education at University of Jammu.
Principal Prof (Dr) Romesh Kumar Gupta honoured the Athletes who brought laurels to the institute by winning Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in different sports events. Shamshair Singh, a student of BA-VI Semester won Gold medal in 10000 and 5000 meters race, while Rohit Sharma, a student of BA-VI Semester won Gold medal in 1500 meter race. The Silver medal in 4×400 meter relay race won by Uttkarsh, Shamshair, Aditya Singh and Rohit Sharma and in 4×100 meter Relay Race Anish Sadhotra, Vinesh Kumar, Aditya Singh and Uttkarsh also won silver medal. Vinesh Kumar, a student of B Com-VI won the Bronze medal in High Jump.
The Principal expressed his delight by congratulating Shamshair Singh, and the other winners for winning the gold, silver and bronze medals. In his address, he appreciated the efforts and sportsmanship of the students which they proved by winning medals in different categories. He also added that such achievements are the source of inspiration for the young sportspersons and will provide a new perspective to other budding players.
The Principal felicitated medal winners in presence of Dr Mohinder Pal, Convener Sports Committee, Prof Suresh Kumar Dogra, Head Department of Physics, Dr Ashok Sharma, Convener, IQAC, members Sports Committee viz. Dr Sunil Kumar Bhat, Dr Firdoos Ahmed Itoo, Shashi Kumar Sharma, PTI, Jagdish Badyal, SO, Rajinder Gupta and the other faculty members of the college.
