JAMMU, June 30: Making aware about new pattern of examination (Multiple Choice Questions) announced by University of Jammu, various Governments Degree Colleges of Jammu division today conducted online quiz as well as short writing competitions for 6th semester students.
Department of English of GGM Science College Jammu organized a short story writing competition under the supervision of College Principal, Dr Kaushal Smotra on the theme “Inspiring stories of survival, courage and heroism during COVID-19 pandemic.
The event was judged by Prof Geetanjali Multani, HoD English GCW Parade and Prof Anjali Mahajan, HoD English GDC Nagrota.
The first position was bagged by Meher Fatima of GCW Parade Jammu, 2nd position was clinched by Rumeeta Sharma of GGM Science College Jammu while 3rd position was shared by Rishab Raina and Mansi Gupta of SPMR College of Commerce Jammu.
The event was coordinated by Dr Vandana Khajuria, HoD English.
An online inter-collegiate quiz competition was organised by Government Degree College, Jourian under the guidance of College Principal, Prof Kuldeep Raj Sharma on the pattern of competitive exams to provide early exposure as well as to raise the confidence level of the students.
About 210 students from different colleges within the UT of Jammu and Kashmir participated.
First position was shared by Ankita Kralia of GCW Parade and Tariq Jahangir of Govt MAM College Jammu whereas 2nd position was shared by Rahil Mahajan of SPMR College of Commerce Jammu, Love Jalotra and Anamika Sharma of GDC Akhnoor and 3rd position was shared by Vishal Kumar Sharma of GDC Mishriwala, Deepika Sharma of GCW, Gandhi Nagar, Neha Sharma and Mohinder Pal of GDC Akhnoor. E-certificates were given to all the participants who scored 70 percent marks or above.
The event was conducted by Dr Rakesh Bharti, HoD Education along with the members of the organizing committee Prof Naseeb Kumar Bhagat, Prof Rimjhim Gupta, Prof Meenakshi Sharma, Prof Ajay Kumar Sharma and Prof Renu Sharma.
Department of Commerce, Government Degree College Akhnoor organized inter-collegiate online quiz competition for 6th semester students.
The event was organised under the supervision of College Principal, Dr Namarta in which 81 students from different colleges within the UT of Jammu and Kashmir participated.
Sehaj Kour Sahni of GCW Gandhi Nagar Jammu and Shipali from GCW Udhampur shared first position by scoring 98 percent marks whereas second position was shared by Suresh Sharma and Shivani Sharma of GDC Akhnoor, Ritika Aggarwal of GCW Gandhi Nagar, Shilpa Devi of GCW Udhampur and Somil Gupta of SPMR College of Commerce by scoring 96 percent marks.
Third position was shared by Vishali Sharma of GDC Akhnoor and Pallavi Devi of GCW Udhampur by scoring 94 percent marks. E-certificates were awarded to all the participants who secured 70 percent or above marks. The event was coordinated by Prof Sonia Bhau, HoD Commerce along with faculty member, Kanchan Kumari.
Department of Political Science, Govt Degree College Ramban organised an online inter-college mock cum quiz competition on the topic “Government and Politics in J&K” for college students.
Students from fifteen Degree Colleges of Jammu division enthusiastically participated in the event.
Ishfaq ur Rehman of GDC Surankote, Bandeep Kour of GCW Kathua and Naveet Singh of GDC Akhnoor secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
Dr Naveen Anand, Principal of the College appreciated the students for overwhelming response in the contest.
Prof Zakir Hussain Naik, HoD Political Science thanked all the Head of Departments for extending their co-operation in organising the event.
Government Degree College, Paloura (Mishriwala) organized online poster making competition on the eve of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking under the guidance of Prof Ramneek Kaur, Principal of the College. Prof Narayan Dutt was the convener of the competition.
The event was organized by Dr Sanjay Kapoor, NSS programme Officer and Amit Sanotra whereas the competition was adjudged by Prof R.K Bamezai, HoD Chemistry, University of Jammu and Dr Rama Badyal, HoD Psychology, GCW Gandhi Nagar.
The first position was bagged by Kalpana Yadav of GDC Paloura, 2nd by Vijay Kumar of GCET, Jammu whereas 3rd position was clinched by Deepika Sharma of Govt MAM College Jammu respectively. Geetanjali Sharma of KC College of Education and Imtiaz Ali of GDC Paloura Jammu were declared Runners up.
