JAMMU, Apr 25: Gymnastics Federation of India (GFI) held its first Annual General Meeting (AGM) of 2025 in Pune, Maharashtra, attended by representatives from all States and Union Territories of India.
During the meeting, the Gymnastics Federation of India unanimously passed a resolution to acknowledge the significant contributions of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council in promoting sports in the region playing a crucial role in promoting sports in J&K including Gymnastic.
The GFI acknowledged the invaluable support provided by the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, particularly Commissioner Secretary Youth Services and Sports Sarmad Hafeez and Secretary of the Sports Council Nuzrat Gul, in promoting gymnastics activities at both the UT and national levels.
The executive committee of GFI acknowledged the J&K Sports Council’s role in promoting gymnastics through the successful organization of the past three National Gymnastics Championships.
The Federation expressed confidence that under the leadership of the Omar Government and with the support of Sports Minister Satish Sharma, the forthcoming Asian Championship will be organized successfully and in an impressive manner.
On the occasion, Kiran Wattal, who was re-elected as president of Gymnastics Association Jammu and Kashmir (JKGA), was honoured for his role in promoting gymnastics in J&K and nurturing young talent in the sports. The participants expressed confidence that under Wattal’s leadership, JKGA will continue to achieve new milestones in gymnastics.
