JAMMU, Dec 20: Department of Mathematics, Government Gandhi Memorial Science College, Canal Road, Jammu, today organized a Mathematical Olympiad for the students of Government Higher Secondary Schools of Jammu district.
In this event, around 540 students participated from 54 Government schools of Jammu district. Principal of the College, Dr Ajeet Angrawl informed the audience that this activity of college comes under the Adopted School Scheme issued by Minister of Higher Education Department of J&K Government. He further appealed the students to take part in such competitions.
The convener of the programme, Dr Sunil Gupta informed that the Department has planned three-day Mathematical activities to celebrate National Mathematics Day, which falls on the December 22.
He said today’s programme is part of this celebration. He further disclosed that an intercollegiate one-day student’s Mathematical conference will be organized tomorrow while an intercollegiate Mathematical quiz competition will be organized on December 22.
In the end of the Olympiad, certificates were given to all the participants. The result for the Olympiad will be declared tomorrow and will be available on college website www.ggmsciencecollege.in after 5 pm. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd consolation prizes will be distributed on the valedictory function on December 22.
