JAMMU, May 31: To achieve the objective of e-learning and continuance of teaching-learning process over digital platforms amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the Department of Botany, Govt Gandhi Memorial (GGM) Science College, Jammu organized an Inter-Collegiate Quiz competition in Botany yesterday.
The Quiz was based on the topic “Economic Botany and Biotechnology”. A total of 435 students from 31 institutions across the country participated in the event.
Those scoring 60% or more marks were awarded e-Certificates after the completion of the event.
The competition was organized under the guidance of Prof (Dr) Kaushal Smotra, Principal of the college.
The event was coordinated by Dr Lakhvinder Singh, Dr Fraz Ahmed and Dr Neeti Chibber under the supervision of Prof Bimla Devi (HoD) and Dr Rohini Manhas.
The questions for the Quiz were researched and drafted by a team of the senior faculty members of the Department namely Prof Anita Gupta, Dr Neena Sharma, Dr Harvinder Kour, Prof Sumiksha Thakur and Prof Mehnaz Bano.
Principal of the college, Dr. Kaushal Smotra commended the participants for showing overwhelming enthusiasm in taking part in the quiz. She said that the event will be helpful for the students to evaluate their knowledge about the topic, and preparation for University and other competitive examinations. She, in her message, prayed for the health and speedy recovery of the Covid-19 patients and asked the students to adopt all safety precautions advised by the government.
