JAMMU, June 9: Government Gandhi Memorial (GGM) Science College Jammu drubbed Jammu University by 9 wickets to seal berth in the finals of the ongoing 3rd Prof Pran Nath Malhotra Memorial One-Day Cricket Tournament, being organized by the Jammu wing of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) at Science College Hostel ground, here.
Earlier, speedster Rohit Sharma alongwith spinners Deepak Singh Manhas and Parveen Singh plotted collapse of the Jammu University XI by bowling in right areas with nagging line and teasing length. It was only Rajkumar Bakshi from Jammu University XI, who showed some resistance and application against disciplined bowling to score 44 runs off 45 balls, which included 4 boundaries and 2 sixes, while Vishal also contributed sedate 18 runs with the help of 2 boundaries. For Science College XI, Rohit scalped 3 wickets by conceding 19 runs in his 10 overs, while Parveen and Deepak claimed 2 wickets each. Medium pacer Mayank Goutam also claimed one wicket.
Science College, in reply scored the required runs in 20.4 overs by losing just one wicket to win the match by 9 wickets. Aditya Pratap Singh played a magnificent knock of unbeaten 54 runs off 45 balls, which included superbly-timed seven boundaries and one six, while Sahil Bhalwal contributed valuable 33 runs with the help of 7 fours. Avinash also remained unbeaten on 34 runs, which included 5 crispy boundaries. For Jammu University, Vishal claimed the only wicket to fell.
