JAMMU, Sept 19: Government Gandhi Memorial (GGM) Science College, Jammu, secured the championship title in the Inter-Collegiate Football Tournament following a tense final match against Govt. MAM College, Jammu. The match, held at the Science College Grounds, was a display of competitive spirit, teamwork and skill from both sides.
After a goalless draw in regular time, the championship was decided through penalty kicks. Shivansh Raina and Aryan Jamwal scored for GGM Science College, leading their team to a 2-1 victory, while Daksh netted the lone goal for MAM College.
Dr. Ashaq Hussain, Incharge of the GGM Science College Football Team, praised both teams’ performances and highlighted the close margins that decided the final result. He noted the exceptional skill and determination shown by the players.
The final was officiated by Rahul Sharma, Aman Sudan, Kartik Sharma, Atul Verma and Gagan Kumar. The valedictory ceremony, presided over by Prof. (Dr.) Monika Sharma, Dean of Student Welfare at Cluster University Jammu, saw the GGM Science College team awarded gold medals for their triumph.
Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal of GGM Science College, congratulated the players for their success and commended the support of Dr. Ashaq Hussain, Dr. Sunil Dutt (Convener Sports), and Dr. Vinod Kumar Bakshi (Director of Physical Education). The tournament raised the bar for collegiate football, with GGM Science College’s win celebrated as a result of teamwork and perseverance.
