Jammu, Oct 25: The Inter-College Badminton Tournament for the 2024-2025 session concluded at the University of Jammu, showcasing exceptional talent and sportsmanship among participants. The event was organized under the expert guidance of Dr. Vinod Bakshi, Director of Physical Education & Sports at the Cluster University of Jammu, and supervised by Neenu Sawhney, Physical Director at Govt. MAM College, Jammu.
GGM Science College triumphed in the Men’s category, while the Women’s title was claimed by Govt. SPMR College of Commerce. Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal of GGM Science College, praised the players and acknowledged the hard work of Dr. Bakshi and Dr. Sunil Dutt, Convener of Sports, in facilitating a successful tournament. “This event will be remembered for its celebration of talent, dedication, and sportsmanship,” he remarked.
In the Men’s final, GGM Science College delivered a spectacular performance, securing a 3-0 victory over Govt. SPMR College of Commerce. Key players Rohan Singh, Harshit Sharma, Nishant Sharma, and Piyush Mehra exhibited outstanding skills, earning spots in the upcoming North Zone Inter-University Tournament at Chitkara University, Punjab, from October 30 to November 3, 2024.
In the Women’s category, Govt. SPMR College showcased teamwork, defeating Govt. College of Education with a 2-0 set victory. The tournament attracted notable dignitaries and was officiated by a skilled team of referees, ensuring a fair and competitive atmosphere throughout.
The dignitaries present on the occasion were Dr. Mandeep Singh, P.D. Singh, Jai Bharat, Ravi Kumar (Physical Director, Govt. SPMR College of Commerce), Ramandeep Karalia (Physical Director, GCOE Jammu), Kajal Premi (Physical Director, GCW Gandhi Nagar), Neelam Chalotra (Assistant Physical Director, Govt. MAM College), and Neelam Devi. Matches were officiated by a skilled team of referees, including Sanjay Khajuria, Gurdeepika Kour, Shefali, and Devinder Singh, ensuring fair play and a professional atmosphere throughout the competition.
