JAMMU, Oct 11: With the entry of the MAM College, GGM Science College, MBS College and Bhargava College in the last four stage, the semifinals position has been cleared in the ongoing Inter-Collegiate Football (Men) Championship 2012-13, here today.
Now in the semifinals, GGM Science College would take on MBS college and Bhargawa College would lock horns with MAM College tomorrow.
Earlier, in the first quarterfinal, GGM Science College got better of ASCOMS by two goals to one in a tough contest. Though, ASCOMS took the early lead through a splendid goal scored by Tahir Shafi, but GGM Science College players played as a cohesive unit to score back to back 2 goals through Suraj Kumar and Suraj Gupta, thus won the match by (2-1).
MBS College of Engineering toppled PG Arts by five goals to three (5-3) via tie-breaker in other quarterfinal match played today. Arun, Amardeep and Harish were the goal scorers for MBS, while Anuragh and Taran Pal Singh netted goals for PG Arts.
In another quarterfinal match, Bhargava College defeated GDC Samba by three goals to nil (3-0) and the goal scorers were Nitin Singh and Vishal Singh, who scored two goals.
In the last quarterfinal, MAM College blanked GDC Udhampur by four goals to nil (4-0). Avinash scored 2 goals, while Shubam Sambyal and Vikrant Khajuria netted one goal each.
The matches were officiated by Gagan Kumar, Ravi Kumar, Pardeep Kotoch, Vijay Kumar, Harman Jeet Singh and Arun Jamwal.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Ramesh Sharma PTI Campus, Narayani Jamwal Physical Director, Jai Bharat, Raj Kumar and Dr Brij Baloria.
