JAMMU, Oct 19: XIV North India Karate Do Championship 2014 organized by J&K Sports Karate Do Association at Rotary Club, Gandhi Nagar, concluded today with best team award bagged by Ghaziabad (UP) Karate team.
The 2nd best team award went to Army Public School (APS), Ratnuchak (J&K). 250 players of seven States participated in the championship, which was sponsored by Tourism Department, Jammu, KC Food Products Private Limited, Funscoop Ice Cream and Frutus Juice, and IGES College of Nursing and Paramedical.
In the closing ceremony held today, Dr Ashok Gupta, IGP (Retd), J&K Police, was the chief guest while SSP Railways, Jammu, Shiv Kumar, vice-president, J&K Sports Karate Do Association, Sidharth Dhaluja, National president, Karate Sangh of India, Sensei Anil Kaushik, DSP Railway, PK Mengi, Dr Amit Vaid and Jatinder Gandhok were the guests of honour.
While speaking on the occasion, the chief guest, highlighted the role of extracurricular activities particularly sports activities in the overall personality development of the youths.
On the occasion, general secretary of J&K Sports Karate Do Association, Brijesh Bhau (5th Dan Black Belt), entertained the audience by breaking 32 marbles in demonstration.
