Gill to Captain NZ in Veteran Cricket C’ship

JAMMU, Oct. 19: Rajesh Gill, a senior cricketer and former Ranji player, has been selected as the captain of the North Zone Veteran Cricket Team for the 3rd Inter-Zonal Veteran Cricket Championship. The tournament will take place in Greater Noida from October 21, organized by the Veterans Cricket Association of India.
The selection was announced yesterday in New Delhi, revealing a talented squad that includes Vice-Captain Ratan Sharma, Rajinder Kr. Bhumbla, Sanjeev Seth, Nalin Jain, Ashish Redij, Akash Malhotra, Dharmendra Singh, Biju Nair, Dr. Satish Kumar Jain, Manoj Kumar, Sarang Degwekar, Raju Arora, Dhiraj Kumar, and Abhijeet Balasaheb Kadam, along with reserves Shoib Kamal, Obaid Kamal, Satish Saraf, and G.S. Harry.
This championship is significant as it will help identify players for the Indian Veterans Cricket Team (50+) set to compete in the Over 50 World Cup in Sri Lanka in February-March 2025. Gill previously represented the Indian Veterans Cricket Team in England and South Africa in 2022 and 2024, adding to his impressive cricketing credentials.
