JAMMU, Jan 19: A 20-year-old girl was saved by the Army and police personnel in a joint operation after she jumped into the Chenab river in Akhnoor in a bid to end her life.
As per police sources, a girl hailing from Talab Tillo area, jumped into the river Chenab in Akhnoor, and was noticed by some Army personnel manning a post nearby.
A joint rescue operation was immediately launched by the army and police personnel and the girl was pulled out of the river.
She was shifted to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Akhnoor for treatment and was later discharged.
Akhnoor Police has taken cognizance in this regard.
