Girls Football competitions commence in Poonch

POONCH, Aug 22: The Inter District Divisional Level Football Competitions for Girls Under-14 and Under-17 categories commenced today at Sports Stadium Poonch with a grand inauguration. The event, hosted by the District Youth Services and Sports Office (DYSSO) Poonch, is part of the annual sporting calendar for 2024-25. Vikas Kundal, Deputy Commissioner of Poonch, inaugurated the event, offering his best wishes to all participants and encouraging them to play with true sportsmanship and a positive mindset.
In the U-17 category, Reasi defeated Samba with a decisive 4-0 victory, where Nancy scored two goals, and Vandhana and Naina each contributed with one goal. In the U-14 category, Jammu emerged victorious against Samba with a 3-0 win, with goals from Sakshi, Rishita and Hoorian. The host team Poonch also secured a win in the U-17 category defeating Kathua by 1-0, with Sobia scoring the only goal.
The competitions will continue over the next four days, serving as a platform for young talent to shine and as a preparatory stage for the upcoming Inter Divisional UT Level Competition. Prominent attendees included Tahir Mustafa Malik, Additional Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Azar Majeed, Tehsildar Haveli, Lal Hussain, CEO Poonch, and Nirdoah Kumar, Manager of Sports Stadium Poonch. The event was also attended by ZPEOs and officials from the JKSC unit in Poonch. Vijay Kumar PEM conducted the opening ceremony, and the matches were officiated by a panel of technical officials appointed by DYSSO Poonch.
