JAMMU, May 1: Councillor of Ward number 48, Bahu Fort (West) Jammu, Sham Lal Basson has urged the Lt Governor of J&K to provide free of cost 3-months ration to all ration card holders of the UT.
He said that Jammu Municipal Corporation provided ration to people living in slum areas of Municipal limits of JMC in a pick and choose manner. “So long as Ward number 48 is concerned, ration was provided to only 46 families out of 257 families. The lists were provided to Mayor, Commissioner JMC and Secretary JMC but they took no action and people were deprived of ration,” he alleged.
Basson said, in the meantime, district administration issued instructions to issue ration to the families from other part of country. He said that there are 400 families from other part of country living in his Ward but only 100 families were provided ration on April 11. There are still 300 families who have not received ration even for the first time, he added.
He appealed LG GC Murmu to issue direction to the FCS&CA Department to provide free ration to all ration card holders for 3 moths as poor families are on the verge of starvation.
