Srinagar, Feb 16: ECHO India and Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar, have joined hands for COVID 19 vaccination Confidence & Advocacy Program for the frontline health care workers program with the first module starting from February 17.
The Program aims to build the advocacy capacity of front-line health care workers and educators in delivering a vaccine-appropriate message, to counter any negative publicity, and ensure patient safety.
The objectives also include building the capacity of vaccinators to strengthen their skills, building the capacity of HCW’s on Control & Prevention COVID Vaccination with special situations like pregnancy, lactation, extreme age.
“The objective of the program is also to build & develop a comprehensive, coordinated approach for program roll-out, bridge gaps in the community, strengthen communication towards a strong vaccination system, and overcome Vaccine Hesitancy among the population,” GMC, Srinagar said.
In the Initial phase, ASHA’s/Nurses from Block Hazratbal, and other nearby peripheries of Srinagar will be trained on the 6 modules weekly from Government Medical College, Srinagar.
It is to be noted here that ECHO India has established the hub at Community Medicine (SPM) Department of GMC for further going activities with faculty from Community Medicine to be the resource persons. “The spokes would be extended to various health centres and healthcare providers,” GMC said.
Pertinent to mention, ECHO India, an acronym for Extension for Community Healthcare Outcome, is a not-for-profit organization working towards building capabilities and bridging gaps in the areas of healthcare, education and other sustainable development goals.
