JAMMU, July 20: Three day workshop on ‘Revised Basic Course for Faculty Development’ under the banner of Medical Council of India, concluded today in Govt Medical College Jammu.
More than 30 faculty members were trained in new competency based curriculum of MCI introduced this year only. It is the first major revision to medical curriculum since 1997, with more focus on developing attitude, ethics, skills and communication skill among Indian Medical Graduates.
Dr Sunanda Raina, Principal/ Dean Govt Medical College, Jammu said that the aims & Objective of MCI By introducing AETCOM & Competency based training programme is to train faculty members with new introduced ‘Medical Curriculum’ which is to be followed from the session in 2019 batch enrolled this year.
Further, she said that this training will go long way to train Indian Medical Graduates produced from this institute to become Clinicians, who understand and provide preventive, promotive, curative, palliative and holistic care with compassion and humane approach, who are skillful and follow the ethics in their practice and are effective communicators.
She congratulated whole of the participants and extended her thanks to Prof. Dr Ashok Sharma (Coordinator) and his excellent team members of Curriculum committee and Medical Education Trained Members in MCI course on faculty devlopment, Dr Vishal Tandon, Dr Rajesh Sharma, Dr Rachna Magotra, Dr Rachna Sabharwal, Dr Razak, Dr Jyotsana and Dr Sanjay Sharma for being resource persons for the training workshop of faculty members of GMC Jammu.
Dr Ashok Sharma and Dr Vishal Tandon, maintained that Institute is all set with new medical Curriculum and one month foundation course will start From August 1, this year only among new MBBS batch.
