Inter-Collegiate Cricket Tournament

JAMMU, Nov 3: GMC Jammu will take on Government Degree College (GDC) Bhaderwah in the final of the Inter-Collegiate Cricket Tournament for men, being organized by Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu on November 5.
Earlier in the first semifinal match, GMC Jammu defeated IDS Sehora by 24 runs and entered into the final.
Batting first GMC Jammu made 189 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in allotted 20 overs. Sawan Rana played a magnificent inning of unbeaten 84 runs off 55 balls with help of 11 boundaries, while Shourya Partap made 57 runs in 35 balls and Danish Bhat chipped in unbeaten 33 runs off 20 balls.
For IDS Sehora, Shantanu and Dhananjay scalped 1 wicket each.
In reply, IDS Sehora failed to chase the target and bundled out at 165 runs by loisng 7 wickets in stipulated 20 overs. Sibgatulla chipped in 60 runs in 41 balls, while Waheed Ahmed scored 25 runs and Salil made 19 runs.
For GMC Jammu, Sawan Rana was the wrecker-in-chief, who scalped 4 wickets, while Abu Tallah took 2 wickets and Danish Bhat pocketed 1 wicket.
In the second match, GDC Bhaderwah trounced GGM Science College by 7 wickets and registered berth in the final.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, GGM Science College made 107 runs by losing all the wickets in allotted 20 overs. Pancham Singh scored 34 runs, while Shoib Naik and Naresh Kumar made 26 and 11 runs respectively.
For GDC Bhaderwah, Usman scalped 4 wickets, while Abu Tallah, Anzar and Ankush took 1 wicket each.
In the second inning, GDC Bhaderwah chased the target in 17.5 overs by losing 3 wickets. Sahil Najar made 34 runs, while Hanan Mir scored unbeaten 30 runs, while Yasir contributed with 21 runs.
For GGM Science College, Abhishek, Arun Kumar and Shoib Naik scalped 1 wicket each.
The matches were officiated by Vijay Kumar, Rahul Kumar, Raj Kumar Bakshi and Sadiq Hussain as umpires, while Vijay Kumar Raina maintained the scorecards.
The Championship is being organized under the supervision of Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
