GMC Jammu to start DNB courses in 8 specialties

JAMMU, May 9: Government Medical College, Jammu today successfully submitted various application forms to Diplomate of National Board, New Delhi for the start of DNB Courses in the academic session 2019-20 for eight different Specialties/Super Specialties from GMC & its Associated Hospitals, Jammu namely Cardiology, Neurosurgery, CTVS, Cardiac Anaesthesia, Biochemistry, Radiotherapy, Psychiatry, and Urology depending upon the letter of intent, available infrastructure and human resource with the respective department.
The institute is expecting to get the letter of permission in all the eight Specialties/Super Specialties for the academic session 2019-20. With the start of DNB Courses in Government Medical College, Jammu, the emergency and routine services shall certainly improve further with inclusion of these courses and inclusion of the human resource. Further, this will help the State to produce qualified human resource who can later serve different parts of Jammu & Kashmir and provide specialized/super specialized services at their doorstep besides strengthening and upgrading super specialty services in Govt. Medical College, Jammu.
Nodal Officer, Dr. Vishal R. Tandon, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmacology, GMC Jammu handed over the documents to the Principal, Dr. Sunanda Raina and submitted all the requisite documents today to the office of Diplomate of National Board, New Delhi.
Dr. Sunanda Raina laudes the concerned Heads of the Departments for their initiative and timely completion of the process. Further, she said, this could not have been possible without the direction and vision of Principal Secretary to Government, Health and Medical Education Department Atal Dullo and Advisor to the Governor, K Vijay Kumar.
