JAMMU, May 4: Medical Superintendent, Govt Medical College Hospital, Jammu Dr Dara Singh has been nominated as member of a national level committee, framed by Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to point of deficiencies and recommend the adequate oxygen supply system in Govt hospitals.
Official sources said that after the incident of a large number of deaths of new born children in Gorakhpur hospital in Utter Pradesh due to Oxygen supply failure last year, the Union Health Ministry decided to improve the Oxygen supply system in all the hospitals in the country. For this purpose, a committee of Administrators/ Medical Superintendants of various hospitals has been framed.
In a meeting of the panel held at Delhi, three ago, Dr Dara Singh proposed several suggestions and referred to the oxygen supply system in GMC Jammu. It was observed that supply of gas in GMC Jammu was one of the best systems in the country except only a few deficiencies. He stressed for 24-hour generator/ solar power back up system for Oxygen supply in hospitals besides in liquid form supply system in hospitals to avoid any mishaps.
