GMCH doctors, paramedics call off strike after reinstatement of suspended doctor

JAMMU, May 26: The strike of Resident Doctors’ Association, Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) and associated hospitals supported by Medical Teachers’ Association (MTA) and Paramedical Staff Association, was called off today with the revocation of verbal order of suspension of Dr Sushil Pandita, Registrar, Medicine.
The strike was called off after a joint meeting of MTA, RDA and Paramedical Staff Association with the Principal GMCH, Dr Ghanshyam Dev Gupta, who revoked his own verbal order of suspension of Dr Sushil Pandita.
“The Principal has conceded to all demands of the RDA, MTA and paramedical staff and proper orders were issued on the spot and all members of the RDA and MTA joined their respective duties by 1 pm today” said Dr Neeraj Sharma, president RDA.
He said that Dr Sushil Pandita has been reinstated and his verbal suspension revoked. “Besides, an enquiry committee has been constituted to look into the circumstances leading to the suspension of Dr Pandita”, he added.
Earlier, till 1 pm the routine work in Operation Theatres, Wards and OPDs, were suspended by RDA members and paramedics while the emergency services were going on smoothly.
