JAMMU, Feb 12: “Go Green Campaign”, a mass movement towards green future concluded today.
The campaign was an awareness movement comprising of environment rallies, painting competitions, exposure trips as well as tours to different areas, plantation in various areas involving students, educational institutes, from middle to degree levels. Intellectuals from the education fraternity and environmental and motivators also participated.
The students in big number participated in all the activities under the banner of “Go Green Campaign” organized by “Jay Kay Women Welfare Society” supported by Ministry of Environment and Forest, Government of India.
On the concluding day today at KL Saighal Hall, the chief guest BR Kundal, Member Legislative Council and former Revenue Minister, Former Chief Secretary presented awards to the environment lovers for dedication and commitment to save the trees.
Kundal in his address urged the need to be practical as the mere slogans and talks will never achieve any god in saving the mankind from the cruel jaws of fatal disaster.
In his welcome and keynote address Dr Tilak Raj Sharma, secretary, Jay Kay Women Welfare Society gave a detailed account of all events organized during the span of campaign.
Dr Ashwani Jojra, Founder Sahyog India, Dr CM Seth, Director WWF, Lalit Kumar, Area Director Special Olympics Bharat J&K Chapter also expressed their views.
In the award ceremony, Manjit Singh, Nilamber Dogra, Tejinder Kour, Anil Kumar, RP Sharma, Rajinder Singh, sarpanch, Makhanpur Gujjran and Roshan Lal Raina were awarded.
The special guests who graced the occasion were HC Katoch and Narinder Sharma.
Earlier, the campaign was launched by SDM RS Pura SS Sambyal at Government City Middle School RS Pura. The main highlights of the Go Green Campaign were that the special children of ‘Sahyog India’ who participated in all activities and events along with normal students.
