JAMMU, Apr 8: BJP executive member, Raman Suri today said that the newly inaugurated Gold Training Academy at Jammu Tawi Golf Course (JTGC) will go a long way in producing quality golfers amongst the commoners and school children, especially from the Government institution.
In a press statement issued here, he said: “This is something that has never happened in the history of golf in J&K, especially when this sport was confined to the elite or a chosen few bureaucrats and politicians, who never allowed real sportspersons to get trained or play golf in the State-run and State-maintained Golf Courses.”
Suri also lauded the vision of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha in establishing a Golf Academy each at Jammu as well as at Srinagar, where students of schools besides commoners will be able to play the sport which earlier was inaccessible for the masses. “This policy will enable many to try their hands at this popular sport and enable others to learn the rules of the game easily on the ground,” he said.
Suri expressed hope that the newly established Golf Academy will become one of the finest Golf Training Centres of North India, while revamping of Sanasar Golf Course will also boost tourism in Jammu.
