JAMMU, Dec 11: There was a good show of skill and talent displayed by the players in Football, Hockey and Cricket matches of the ongoing Vice Chancellor’s Trophy, being organised by the Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu, here.
The matches were played at the University Cricket, Football Ground and KK Hakhu Astroturf Stadium, Jammu.
In the Men section of Hockey Tournament, University of Jammu team beat Cluster University, Srinagar by 7-0 goals. Amit Singh scored four goals in the 5th, 37th, 44th and 57th minutes of the match. Saval Ahmad, Hirday Preet Singh and Rikshit Sharma scored goals in 10th, 41st and 60th minutes of the match.
In the Women Section, Jammu University beat Cluster University Srinagar by 3-1 goals.
Minakshi Khajuria of Jammu University scored hat-trick for the team in the 5th, 30th and 58th minutes of the match. Sabreena scored the only goal for the Cluster University in 26th minute.
Dr Daud, Iqbal Babar, Director, Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu, Jammu was the chief guest of both the matches, who was introduced with the team players before the start of the matches.
The matches were officiated by Dalvinder Singh, Joginder Singh, Mukesh Sharma, Jaggit Singh, Tanvir Singh and PD Singh.
In Football, Cluster University, Srinagar beat Cluster University, Jammu by (4-3) via tie-breaker. The goal scorers from Cluster University, Srinagar were Shahid, Hunner, Aqib, Shafqat, while the goal scorers from Cluster University, Jammu were Vishal, Manveer and Kartik.
BGSBU, Rajouri beat SKUAST, Kashmir by (2-0). The goal scorers from BGSBU, Rajouri were Usman and Malik, who netted the goals in 13th and 55th minutes respectively.
Arun Malhotra, International Footballer, State Awardee and former Member Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, was the chief guest on the occasion.
The match officials were Suresh Gupta, Rahul Sharma, Dil Bahadur, Vijay Kumar, Dheeraj Menia & Gagan Kumar.
Promient among others present on the occasion were Ramesh Magotra, Romesh Sharma, Ravish Vaid, Harinder Pal Singh, Jai Bharat and Sanjay Verma.
In Cricket (Men), Kashmir University beat BGSB University, Rajouri by 46 runs, while Jammu University defeated SKUAST Jammu by 58 runs.
