JAMMU, Aug 23: Players showed promise and composure, besides grit and guts to vie for the top honours in the ongoing Inter-Division Chess Competition in all age groups of boys and girls at Youth Hostel Nagrota.
In Under-14 boys, Vivek Parlay of Jammu beat Abdul of Kashmir, Muyeed of Kashmir defeated Pranvat of Jammu, Jiren of Kashmir outplayed Soaib of Jammu and Dewang Gupta of Jammu drubbed Barket of Kashmi, while in Under-17 boys, Zafar Mohd of Kashmir beat Anurag of Jammu, Sahil Kumar of Jammu trounced Burhan of Kashmir, Umair of Kashmir toppled Jatin of Jammu and Purab of Jammu got better of Wasiq of Kashmir.
In Under-19 boys, Ram Sehwal of Jammu defeated Fahin of Kashmir and Sahid of Kashmir beat Tikka Singh of Jammu, while in Chess Under-14 girls, Jigyas of Jammu beat Zahid of Kashmir, Farhat of Kashmir prevailed over Tamana of Jammu, Nisha of Kashmir outplayed Ridhima of Jammu, Bhavana of Jammu outclassed Muntaha of Kashmir and Mansifa of Kashmir beat Samradhi of Jammu.
The matches were officiated by Kamal Singh, Amit Kalsi, Nitin Sethi, Nitin Sharma and Sanjay Gupta.
The competitions are being organized by the Department of Youth Services & Sports District Jammu under the patronage of Sheikh Fayaz Ahmed, Director Youth Services & Sports, and under the Chairmanship of Madan Lal, Joint Director Youth Services & Sports, while Chanchal Kour, DYSSO Jammu is organizing secretary of the competition.
