JAMMU, Oct 29: Jammu and Kashmir Gorkha Sabha has said that the community was elated over grant of OBC status.
Addressing media persons after a meeting of the Sabha members, here today, President of the Gorkha Sabha, Karuna Chhetri said that the community was now feeling comfortable on being part of the J&K UT, which accorded their due status.
She also condemned those criticizing the Government move on granting OBC status and said that the community was indebted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minster Amit Shah, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and Chairman of OBC Commission, Justice G D Sharma for delivering justice to the Gorkhas in J&K.
Others, who were present in the press conference, included Sham Singh Chettri, Rajinder Kumar , Capt Arun Kumar, Mohinder Singh, Hina Thapa, Roop Bahadur, Durga Singh, Rama Pardhan, Tul Bahdur, Manish Adhikari, Sagar Singh Adhikari, Memo Gurung, Digesh Watia, Manoj Kumar Chettri and Dhan Bahadur.
