Gourav Sharma of SMVD Gurukul secures first position in University

Gourav Sharma of SMVD Gurukul being awarded by Governor of Uttar Pradesh.

JAMMU, Dec 6: Master Gourav Sharma, student of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Gurukul, Charan Paduka, Katra, has secured highest marks in the annual examination of class 8th conducted by the Sampurnanand Sanskrit Vishaw Vidyalaya, Varanasi, in April-May this year.
On his outstanding achievement, Master Gourav Sharma has been awarded a medal by the Governor of Uttar Pradesh, who is Chancellor of the Sampurnanand Sanskrit Vishaw Vidyalaya, at its convocation held recently.
N  N Vohra, Governor Jammu and Kashmir and Chairman, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, has congratulated Master Gourav Sharma and the Principal along with his team of Acharyas and Teachers on the spectacular performance of the Gurukul.
It is pertinent to mention here that all the 16 students of the Gurukul who appeared in this examination, have secured 1st Division with marks ranging from 70.88 percent to 79.50 percent. The outstanding performance of Master Gourav Sharma has brought laurels to the Gurukul which has achieved this distinction within fourth year of its existence.
According to Chief Executive Officer, Dr Mandeep K  Bhandari, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board has established this Gurukul, which was made operational in July, 2010. Twenty students are admitted to the Gurukul every year and are provided boarding, lodging, education, books, uniforms etc  totally free of cost.
This Gurukul has been established with the prime objective of imparting Vedic and Sanskrit education to the students. The Gurukul has been granted affiliation by the Sampurnanand Sanskrit Vishaw Vidyalaya, Varanasi on permanent basis upto Acharya (Post-Graduation) level with effect from the academic session 2012-2013. The students are also being imparted quality modern education, including computers, Mathematics, Sciences, English etc  at this Gurukul along with Vedic and Sanskrit education.
